Please join us on Monday, June 11th when we will welcome Lee Brockington – “Between the Waters: the History of Hobcaw Barony” to our podium.

Lee Gordon Brockington is a historian at Hobcaw Barony. Her work includes conducting research, planning public education programming, and serving as a liaison to colleges and the media on special projects.

Lee has written, edited or contributed to a number of books including Plantation Between the Waters (A Brief History of Hobcaw Barony), 3 books on Pawleys Island, and an entry in The SC Encyclopedia. She has worked closely with SCETV on a documentary and an award-winning interactive website for Hobcaw Barony. Her newest book on Pawleys Island history, written with the NY Times columnist Steve Roberts, will be published in July 2018.

A graduate of Columbia College and former Curator of Education at Historic Columbia, Lee is a native of SC and moved to Pawleys Island in 1984 to begin working for The Belle W. Baruch Foundation at Hobcaw Barony.

Her passion for community organizations includes the library, literacy, children and the environment.
