Elected Mayor: December 2013

Entered Town Council: November 2011

Current Term Expires: November 2023

Steve was raised in Lexington, SC and has lived here ever since! He is a graduate of Lexington High School and the University of South Carolina and was a licensed South Carolina Law Enforcement Officer with the State Senate Sergeant at Arm’s Office. His background also includes the hospitality/restaurant business, business management, public safety, and home building.

Steve knew when he was elected to Town Council in 2011 that his hometown was about to explode with positive growth. He ran for Mayor in 2013 and won and was reelected in 2018 with a promise to the citizens to have responsible growth in the Town they all love. The most frequent complaint Steve hears in Town is about traffic congestion. He has worked tirelessly with Council and Staff to implement a solid plan to improve traffic and methods to pay for it after Federal funding was cut. Today Lexington is on the final lap of finishing the initial part of the Town’s Traffic Plan with cutting edge technology for traffic flow improvements.

Steve has also been instrumental in downtown economic development, water quality issues and bringing the Icehouse Amphitheater and Pavilion to Town along with many other citizen activities. During Steve’s first term in office he worked with the Town’s Advisory Committee to plan and open the Town’s first Lexington Paw Park. Each year he guides updates to the Town’s Vision Plan which has taken the Town to a level that exceeds even some bigger cities. His dedication to the citizens of the Town of Lexington is unsurpassed.

Steve serves on many boards and committees in the community all while keeping Lexington in focus. He is currently the Chairman of the Central Midlands Council of Governments and serves on the Executive Committee and Transportation Subcommittee. Steve is the Past President of the SC Association of Mayors, an affiliate organization of the Municipal Association of SC. He is also the Chairman of the Lexington County Joint Municipal Water and Sewer Commission and President of the Saxe Gotha-Lexington Public Facilities Corporation. Steve was very honored to be named to Columbia Business Monthly’s 50 Most Influential Hall of Fame.

Steve is a family man who cherishes his wife, Jamie, an ER Nurse at Lexington Medical Center, his daughters and the cutest grandson! He wants his family and the citizens of Lexington to continue to be proud of their hometown and enjoy what it has to offer today as well as what he sees for the future.
