Georgia Mjartan, President and CEO, Central Carolina Community Foundation.
Georgia Mjartan is the President and CEO of Central Carolina Community Foundation. An experienced leader in the nonprofit, philanthropic and public sectors, Georgia has been recognized as a Southerner of the Year by Southern Living Magazine. Prior to joining the community foundation in 2024, Georgia led South Carolina First Steps, the state agency tasked with supporting school readiness for young children. Georgia began her career working on rural development projects for the W.K. Kellogg Foundation and the US Administration for Children and Families. For over a decade, in Arkansas, she was the executive director of a nationally recognized nonprofit dedicated to moving individuals and families out of homelessness through housing, job training and placement, and programs for children from birth through age 18.
Georgia’s work has been featured on national news programs including NBC News, USA Today, and PBS. In Arkansas, she was named Nonprofit Executive of the Year and an Arkansan of the Year, and in South Carolina, she has been recognized as Advocate of the Year, a Woman of Distinction, a member of the Columbia Power List, and was honored with a Resolution by the SC House of Representatives.
Georgia is an Aspen Institute Ascend Fellow and a graduate of Harvard University’s Senior Executives in State and Local Government program. Georgia serves on numerous boards including the national board of Parents as Teachers, the Community Investment Council for the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond, and Midlands Business Leadership Group (MBLG).
Georgia is married to Dominik Mjartan, the CEO of American Pride Bank. They have three children – two 10-year-old boys and an 11-year-old daughter.
