For our meeting Monday, March 3rd, 2025, we welcome 
Dr. Jay Patel, PharmD – AVP, Chief Pharmacy Officer. 

Dr. Patel received his Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Presbyterian College School of Pharmacy, and his undergraduate degree from Clemson University. He completed a Managed Care Pharmacy Resident post-graduate program at Providence Health Plan in Oregon. Dr. Patel joined BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina in August 2019, prior to he was the Formulary Management Pharmacist at Prisma Health – Midlands for 4 years. Since joining BCBSSC as Director of Clinical Pharmacy Management, he consulted employers and leaders of lines of business in the development, implementation, and maintenance of their pharmacy benefit programs. He performed cost and utilization reviews while developing client recommendations to meet their goals. In January 2023, he was promoted to Chief Pharmacy Officer of BCBSSC with primary responsibility of all clinical pharmacy program activities that are aimed at improving and maintaining the health of members, managing utilization, and keeping benefits affordable. He leads a team of pharmacists that oversee all LOBs with regards to Pharmacy management as well as ancillary areas such as Utilization Management and Concerige Clinical Programs. He also plays an important role working with all our business areas and externally supporting clients and provider community.
