For our meeting Monday July 20th 2020, we welcome Kathy Coleman, PhD Director of Sandhill Research and Education Center

Dr. Kathy Coleman is Director of the Clemson University Sandhill Research and Education Center (REC) in Columbia, SC. As Director, she oversees the operational and programmatic functions of the REC which is one of 6 Clemson experiment stations across the state. She also serves as the Assistant Extension Agribusiness Program Team Leader. The main focus at Sandhill is the development of Clemson’s Extension and Research programs related to Agribusiness. The vision is to also build agriculture and environmental conservation research related to the urban location and unique soil conditions at Sandhill.

Dr. Coleman has been with Clemson for over 34 years, 29 of which were in Governmental Affairs before being named Director at Sandhill. She continues to work with the Clemson PSA Advocacy team and assists with PSA legislative strategies. She earned Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees from Clemson University and a PhD from Texas A&M University in agricultural economics. Dr. Coleman resides in Saluda, SC with her husband Greg and they have two sons, Lewis and Thomas (deceased) and a grandson, Weyman.
