For our meeting Monday Nov 12th, in honor of Veterans Day, we have a special presentation from Bill Dukes and David Omura. We will be joined by many veterans that fought in WWII and hear all about the Veterans Honor Flight.

David L. Omura

Bill Dukes served in the US Air Force and attained the rank of Captain. He is a Vietnam veteran. Bill founded Honor Flight of SC in 2008 and more than 2,000 WWll and Korean War Veterans participated in the Honor Flights from Columbia, Charleston and the Grand Strand. He currently serves as a Commissioner on the Lexington-Richland Airport Commission and previously served as a member of the Board of Trustees, Newberry College, the USC Educational Foundation and is a Past-Chairman of the Columbia Convention Center Authority. Bill is a recipient of The Order of the Palmetto, the DAR Medal of Honor for Americanism and the Distinguished Alumni Award from the USC Darla Moore School of Business. He was recently inducted into the Richland One Hall of Fame.

David L. Omura was appointed as the Chief Executive Officer of the Columbia VA Health Care System on July 29, 2016. In his role he provides oversight and leadership to a healthcare system that includes a medical center and seven community-based outpatient clinics that provides care to over 83,000 Veterans within 2/3rds of the state of South Carolina. He manages an operating budget of over $560 M and maintains academic affiliations with 91 institutions as well as partnerships with Department of Defense across South Carolina and Georgia. Prior to taking on this role, he served as the Chief Operating Officer for the William Jennings Bryan Dorn VAMC since September 12, 2012. In this role he provided direct oversight over fiscal operations, the business office, logistics, engineering, human resource, safety and privacy.
