Pastor Murray is a South Carolina native; he spent his youth navigating the tough streets of East Orange and Newark, NJ.
He graduated from The Stony Brook School on Long Island, NY and has a Bachelor of Science degree in Organizational Management from Morris College in Sumter, S.C. He has been conferred with Honorary Doctorate in Divinity by BOCM School of Great Commission.

Pastor Murray is married to Lady Pleshette Greggs-Murray. They live in Lexington, SC. They share parental love to three adult children and two grandchildren.

Pastor Murray serves as Prison Fellowship’s South and North Carolina Field Director-. He participates in partnerships for Restorative ministry in SC & NC and leads the Angel Tree® a ministry program to children with incarcerated parents.

Mr. Murray is an ordained Pastor and founder of God’s Church of Destiny which functionally directs a Transitional house/program for men, Destiny House. He also serves as Associate Pastor at God’s Church of Deliverance.

He motivates youth and adults to live out their purpose and discover their destiny in life, His ministry and testimony has impacted lives of over ¼ million youth in SC, served tens of thousands of children of incarcerated parents and instrumental to thousands of men and women transitioning from prison and addiction to new life living.
He is the 2020 WACH Fox TV-57 Jefferson Awards recipient, representing the Midlands of South Carolina for outstanding community service. He is a published author, his first work is, “Rivers, Streams and Tributaries; A collection of Poetry by James Murray and just recently released, “New Black Anthems”.
